Koh Samui, one of Thailand's loveliest islands in the Gulf of Thailand, is located 630 k. m. South of Bangkok in Suratthani province. The 5 k. m. Chaweng Beach could stand alone as a satisfying holiday experience.

The island of Samui has a microclimate, quite different from the mainland.

December to February (main high season) it can get up to 30 degree C (86 degrees F). Sometimes there is a brief tropical rainfall, mostly in December.

This is the best season for European visitors as it is not too hot. March to June becomes quite hot, up to 40 degrees C (114 degrees F) with little rain.

This is good season for our Australian visitors who may be more used to hot weather than our European friends. But don't worry, you will enjoy having a comfortable bungalow or a hotel room with air conditioning.

July to September (secondary high season) is hot, but some days it also rains. August is called the Italian season (you can guess why).

October to November is wet season, but generally it does not rain every day.

In contrast to other regions of Thailand, Samui does not really have a well-defined rainy season but sometimes there are sunless periods of 2 or 3 days, especially during November.
