Due to the large numbers of both expats and foreign tourists that live on or visit Koh Samui the island has an abundance of shops, delis, bakeries and supermarkets that specialise in selling good quality, imported food from all over the world, as well as freshly made produce.
These types of establishments that specialise in selling foreign food on Koh Samui are not only popular with expats who are looking for a little taste of something from back home, they are also used by many of the islands restaurants as a place to source foreign or international produce and ingredients.
The wide variety of foreign food shops on Koh Samui provide a great selection of international and European food such as, bread, steaks, sausages, fish, beer, wine, hams, cheeses, just to name a few. Although it is true that the price of imported food on the island will inevitably be more expensive than locally purchased Thai food, the quality of a lot of imported food products can often be better.
Whilst there is an excellent choice of foreign food available in both restaurants and shops on Koh Samui, it might not always be possible to get your hands on absolutely every food item from your own country. For more elusive items you might have to try and track down large suppliers, who will normally be based in Bangkok. You could also purchase such item online and arrange for them to be imported yourself but this will inevitably be quite expensive.
Having said that, you will probably be presently surprised by just how much selection there is when it comes to purchasing foreign foods on Koh Samui.
