Some of the best Scuba Diving in the world is located close to Koh Samui. The Gulf of Thailand offers clear, warm water, with an abundance of marine and plant life. Diving here will be a memorable experience.

There are many different dive shops, offering a variety of packages, from beginners' lessons, intermediate dives, advanced dives, night dives and rescue dives. A relatively new addition to the island is a hyperbaric chamber. Located on the north coast this chamber is a welcome addition to the dive scene on Koh Samui.

You can get daily dive trips to all main dive sites in the Samui Archipelago. Travel to dive sites in comfort on speedboats equipped with tank racks, spacious sun deck, wide open entrances, fresh water shower and toilet. Most dive companies aim to keep your comfort a priority by limiting the number of passengers on board.

If you don't Dive, Don't Worry, Snorkel can join in the fun too. Never snorkeled before? No problem, all the dive operators will give you some quick tips and you will be surprised how fast you can enjoy the beauty of the underwater world.

Koh Tao

The island of Koh Tao also known as Turtle Island and is located to the north of Koh Samui it is very well known due to its variety of sites that cater for the novice all the way up to the experienced diver. The waters are crystal clear and the diving is very relaxing without strong currents.

Red Rock

Located on the southern part of the island, Red Rock is a small granite peak that rises out of the water from depths of about 20-24m. You will come across a huge variety of marine life among the coral. Blue spotted rays are abundant and a large number of groupers can be seen hiding in nooks and crevices. Turtles are sometimes seen among the coral.

Ao Leuk

Ao Leuk located northeast of Red Rock is a really good dive site with depths up to 14m. This is a great dive for observing the marine life, this dive site is full of surprises such as leopard sharks & turtles.

Chumpon Pinnacle

This pinnacle is located about 11km northwest of Koh Tao and is regarded as one of the best dive sites in the area. The whale shark and manta rays are the norm on a dive here in peak season.

South West Pinnacle

South West pinnacle is a colorful underwater garden, groupers live in this area as well as schools of black spotted snappers and the occasional leopard shark. You will also see hiding in the rocks a lot of cleaner shrimps.

Koh Nang Yuan Island

Located on the northwest corner of the Koh Tao are three islands that are linked by a beach during low tide that make up Koh Nang Yuan. There are 5 dive sites here; Twins, Nang Yuan cave, Green Rock, White Rock and Japanese Garden. White Rock is a very popular dive site, Green Rock has many swim thru areas which are very enjoyable for the advanced diver.

Anthong National Marine Park

This is a truly fantastic dive site, though you can only dive between April -October when the visibility is at its best.

Hin Yippon Yai and Lek

These two dive sites are the most popular, Hin Yippon Lek is the deepest of the two. Fish you will see here include the banded sea snake, the ring and blue pipefish, shrimps from the coral banded shrimp all the way to the cleaner shrimp and many sea slugs

Hin Yippon Yai is the home to scorpion fish, whale sharks are also seen here, huge barrel sponges and whip coral.

Sail Rock

Sail Rock is located in between the islands of Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. It is very popular among divers. Here there exist many natural holes that are home to animals such as the puffer fish, the white eye moray and banded coral shrimps. Large animals such as mantas and whale sharks are seen here as well. The best thing about this dive site is the chimney, a natural vertical hole that divers can access.
